My name is Sara Vietti and I am a DONA (Doulas of North America) trained birth doula available to attend births in the North Bay. In addition to assisting women with births here in Napa, I also work in the neighboring Solano, Sonoma, Marin, and Lake counties. If you feel we are a good match, we will schedule to meet once more before your due date.
I am always available 24 hours a day by telephone to help with any questions or concerns you may have and to help you determine if you are in labor. When you go into labor, I will join you at home or the hospital (whichever you prefer) and stay at your side providing constant support, until you are holding your baby in your arms. After the birth we will meet one last time to celebrate your birth and most importantly, your new baby.
Sara is currently an apprentice to a respected and experienced midwife who specializes in homebirth. She attends many births at home, but Sara also works as a doula in the hospital, successfully helping women give birth amongst the stresses and pressures of a medical setting. She believes that all women can benefit from having a doula present at their birth, especially at the hospital. She feels grateful for the opportunity to work alongside these families to form a strong, informed, irreplaceable support team.
In September 2008, Sara received doula training from the international organization Doulas of North America (DONA), which trains and certifies doulas of the highest quality. In addition to her DONA training, Sara is certified in Neonatal Resuscitation by the American Heart Association. She is also enrolled in a midwifery program and is currently taking courses to further her birth and delivery education. Recently, she began teaching private, in-your-home childbirth courses tailored to your needs (and at a time that fits into your schedule!).
Lastly, as a certified English teacher, Sara is also available to help your future child with his or her first term paper!
